For decades, Canada has welcomed thousands of international students to the world every year. The global reputation of education, the warm welcome, the quality of life, the prospects for the future are some of the reasons that guide the choice of these students for Canada.
Some people do not need a study permit to study in Canada, but in most cases, foreign nationals will need one in order to be admitted to a designated educational institution (DEI).
The process is selective and candidates must meet certain conditions:
Enrolled in a designated educational institution
Hold a Quebec Admission Certificate for Quebec International Students
Provide proof of financial means for tuition, living expenses and other incidental expenses
Be law-abiding and have no criminal record
Convince the immigration officer that this will be a temporary stay
Nationals of certain countries may be able to obtain a study permit more quickly
through the Direct Study Stream.
In some cases, even though it is not necessary to apply for a study permit to study in Canada
obtaining one is useful.
The study permit is not a visa and does not allow you to re-enter Canada. In this case,
it may be necessary to apply for a visa as well.

Study-Work: Post-Graduation Work Permit
International students who have graduated from a designated educational institution may be eligible for a post-graduation work permit. The duration of the work permit depends on the length of the program of study and is obtained based on several criteria:
Have completed and graduated from a Designated Educational Institution (DEI) degree program of at least 8 months
Have complied with the conditions of study permit stay
Have a valid status at the time and during the processing of the application
Working with a post-graduate permit is one of the pathways to permanent residence.
